Strengthening sow feeding can increase the birth weight of piglets

In an extensive swine farm study, TOPICS investigated the most important management factors affecting the birth weight of piglets. The study involved 19 Dutch farms and more than 7,000 sows. The managers of each farm completed the questionnaire. According to the differences in management factors between different farms, the key factors affecting the birth weight of piglets were determined. The most important finding of this study was that in addition to feeding during pregnancy, sow feeding during lactation and fertilization also had a significant effect on birth weight. Therefore, the entire feeding life of the sow throughout the entire feeding period has an important influence on the birth weight of the piglet. Feed intake for lactation and fertilization The lactation feed intake has a significant effect on the birth weight of the next litter, as it can provide sows with the nutrients needed for the subsequent reproductive cycle. Energy intake (crude fat + starch and sugar) appears to be important for sow recovery. However, this study cannot determine exactly whether the effect of increasing the birth weight of piglets is higher feed intake or higher energy intake. Feed intake during fertilization also affects birth weight. Topek researchers found that for each increase of one kilogram of daily feed intake during the fertilization phase, the pig's first birth weight can be increased by 45 grams. Therefore it seems worthwhile to increase the amount of feed at this stage. Interestingly, the mean birth weight of piglets that were fed to sows fed a lactating diet during the fertilization stage was 51 grams higher than that of the piglets that were delivered to sows fed a pregnant diet. This shows that the difference in birth weight is the nutritional composition of the feed (energy and digestible protein levels). Other factors that affect the birth weight of piglets include feed intake during pregnancy, type of house, use of prostaglandins, sequestration of gilts, and hygiene. However, the statistical results of these factors are not all significant. The following "Factors affecting the birth weight of piglets" section lists more information. In addition to the influence of feed intake, the researchers also found other results. In summary, it can be concluded that the following factors can increase the piglet's birth weight: 1. Isolation measures during the introduction of gilts 2. Sow group rearing 3. No prostaglandin 4, no weaning until fertilization during childbirth Stages use lactating diets instead of pregnancy diets. 5. Hygienic conditions on farms are good. Theoretically, if the above conditions are all met, then the piglet's birth weight will be 442 grams higher than the pig farm where the following conditions are present: 1. Not taken Quarantine measures 2. No group feeding method 3. Prostaglandin 4 during childbirth 4. Pregnancy diet during fertilization 5. Hygienic conditions on farms generally “The sow’s overall production life’s feeding method has an effect on the newborn weight of piglets. Important role" Factors affecting the piglet's birth weight 1. The litter size: When the litter size increases, the birth weight of piglets will be reduced by 30 to 50 grams. 2. The number of litters per year: Each year, the number of litters per litter increases by 0.1. Weight will be reduced by 56 grams. 3. Feed intake at the fertilization stage: For every 1 kg increase in feed intake, 45 g of piglet weight can be raised. 4. Feed intake during pregnancy: 1 kg increase in feed intake during pregnancy The birth weight of piglets can be increased by 1.2g. 5. Increasing digestible lysine levels during pregnancy tends to increase the birth weight of piglets. 6. Increased crude fat intake of sows during lactation can increase the birth weight of piglets. 7. Other factors that increase birth weight 8. Isolation of gilts (+39 grams) 9. Group rearing (+61 grams) 10. Factors that reduce birth weight 11. Use of prostaglandins (-41 grams)

A great Air Purifier can really improve your life. But to qualify as great, it needs to be powerful enough to clean the air in a large living room or playroom, quiet and dark enough for you to sleep near it in a bedroom, and inexpensive enough that it`s reasonable to have several spread throughout your home. Few machines meet that standard, but after seven years of testing 42 different air purifiers
