Growing tree management

The money tree, also known as Pachira aquatica, is a small evergreen tree belonging to the Malvaceae family. It features palmate leaves with 7 to 11 oblong or obovoid leaflets, giving it a distinctive and attractive appearance. The plant has a unique, hammer-shaped trunk and vibrant green foliage that makes it a popular choice for indoor decoration. It thrives in warm, humid, and well-ventilated environments and can tolerate partial shade, making it adaptable to various conditions. For propagation, the money tree can be grown from seeds or cuttings. Seeds should be sown immediately after harvesting to ensure viability. Cuttings are best taken in May or June, using healthy buds. After planting, it's important to keep them shaded and moist, as roots typically develop within about 30 days. When growing in pots, it’s recommended to repot the Pachira every 1 to 2 years. In spring, when the soil is released, trim any yellow or weak branches to encourage new growth. Watering should follow the "see wet, see dry" principle—water thoroughly when the soil surface dries out. During spring and autumn, adjust watering based on weather conditions, possibly watering once a day. When temperatures exceed 35°C, water twice daily. During the growing season, apply fertilizer twice a month. Mist the new leaves to maintain high humidity, which supports healthy growth. From June to September, provide partial shade to maintain light transmittance of 60% to 70%, or place the plant in a bright, indirect light area. In winter, bring the plant indoors and keep the temperature above 5°C, ideally around 10°C. Water every 5 to 7 days and ensure it receives adequate light. Poor ventilation can lead to pests like spider mites and scale insects, so regular inspection is essential. If pests are found, remove them promptly or use an appropriate insecticide. With proper care, the money tree can flourish and add beauty to any space.
