GM cloned cow "sweet" when the mother

At 3 o'clock on the October 4th, China's first transgenic cloned cow "Sweet Sweet" successfully produced a calf in the Xinhua Dairy Farm of Lutai Economic and Technological Development Zone in Tangshan, becoming the first transgenic cow in China to enter the lactation phase. According to experts, the fucose transferase gene contained in the milk produced by "sweet" will have a certain effect on human stomach. In October 2002, researchers from the National Animal Husbandry Institute of China National Agricultural University and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences obtained living cells from the ears of a high-producing dairy cow. At the same time, transgenic genes were used to infuse the fucosyltransferase gene and cultivated into dairy cow embryos. The cloned embryos are then transplanted into recipient cows in utero by embryo transfer techniques. On June 23, 2003, the transgenic cloned cow "sweet" was successfully born. Under the meticulous feeding of breeders at Xinhua Dairy Farm in Lutai Development Zone, “Sweet” developed normally. Earlier this year, "Sweet" was pregnant after artificial insemination and it is now finally a mother. The dairy farmer introduced: due to genetic factors, "sweet" has a high yield characteristics, the milk produced on the first day of more than 10 kilograms, twice as high than the average cow. If it is at the peak of milk production, milk production is expected to reach 10,000 kilograms per year. The "sweet" emulsion that enters the lactation phase contains fucose antigen, which is the culprit responsible for stomach diseases -- Helicobacter pylori. Therefore, this kind of genetically modified milk can be used for the prevention and treatment of stomach diseases, and has important medical value and economic and social value.
