Diagnosis and treatment of mixed infections of swine fever, pseudorabies and blue ear disease

In late October 2006, an infectious disease characterized by high fever, red skin, and hindquarters palsy occurred in a pig farm in the Jixian region. According to the incidence, clinical symptoms, and necropsy changes, the laboratory diagnosed as swine fever and pseudo Rabies and blue ear disease mixed infections are reported as follows:

1 Incidence

The pig farm had 170 commercial pigs and 20 sows. In mid-October, there were 5 pigs in a commercial pig house. After treatment by the technicians, the condition did not improve. Five days later, 30 more were attacked, 5 died, and the pregnant sow began to develop. After investigation, the group of piglets was 20 days old and 60 days old and each epidemic prevention had 1 swine fever vaccine, and it was used as a vaccine against streptococcal vaccine, swine erysipelas and porcine pulmonary epidemic. The sow had epidemic prevention of swine fever vaccine and streptococcal vaccine in the empty period. The other vaccines did not have epidemic prevention at one time.

2 clinical symptoms

The diseased pig has a fever, and the body temperature is as high as 41°C. The body temperature is not refundable, the appetite is abolished, the skin becomes reddened, diarrhea occurs, and some individuals have difficulty in breathing. The hindquarters are paralyzed. As the disease progresses, the tip of the ear or body becomes cyanotic, the feces are dry, white mucus or intestinal mucosa is attached to the feces, and the conjunctiva is flushed. Piglets develop neurological symptoms, trembling, and ataxia.

3 necropsy changes

Generalized lymphadenopathy, hemorrhage, marbled, kidney yellow, a bit like bleeding, throat, trachea and bronchial mucinous foam and congestion, liver, spleen necrosis. Pigmentation of piglets with neurological symptoms showed marked congestion, edema, and increased cerebrospinal fluid.

4 laboratory diagnosis

20 blood samples were taken from the ear vein. The average titer of swine fever antibody was 1 : 512, the average titer of pseudorabies antibody was 1 : 40, and the average titer of PRRS antibody was 1 : 20. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect swine fever. Positive porcine blue-ear disease and pseudorabies were detected by ELISA.

5 Prevention measures

5.1 All pigs were inoculated with 3 pig spleen and ginseng vaccines urgently. Fever-producing pigs were vaccinated with sodium dichlorosulfate and inoculated with pig spleen and leaching seedlings. At the same time, 3 pigs were infected with pseudorabies gene deletion vaccine.

5.2 5 hours after the injection of the vaccine for drug treatment: 1 incidence of pig astragalus polysaccharide with doxycycline or long-acting oxytetracycline intramuscular injection, once a day for 3 days, while injection of refined high serum or interferon Use 3 days. 2 drinking water to add astragalus polysaccharide particles and electrolytic multidimensional, add doxycycline to the feed. In the 3 sheds, 1 thorough sterilization was performed once a day, and the whole house was exterminated. After 1 week, the epidemic situation was obviously controlled. No new-born pigs appeared, and the diseased pigs recovered after 2 weeks.

6 Discussion

6.1 In recent years, mixed infections of several swine diseases have become more common, which has caused a great impact on the aquaculture industry and seriously affected the development of the aquaculture industry. When there is a large wholesale disease on the farm, laboratory tests must be conducted in time for symptomatic treatment after diagnosis so that the spread of the immune situation may cause serious losses.

6.2 In recent years, it has been reported that mild swine fever has been monitored on a regular basis in each swine farm, and the immunization procedures have been adjusted according to the level of antibodies. Select piglet spleen and ginseng to inoculate and do a good job of immunization.

6.3 Pseudorabies and PRRS are mainly harmful to sows and piglets. They interfere with the production of hog cholera antibodies by disrupting the body's immune system, which results in a significant drop in the antibody level of hog cholera, making herds susceptible to swine fever virus infection. Therefore, we must attach great importance to the prevention of epidemic disease of pseudorabies and blue moon disease while doing a good job of epidemic prevention.
