10/11 Australian Wheat Production to Hit the Highest in Five Years

According to the Australian Crop Forecasting Company on Monday, Australian wheat production in 2010/11 is expected to reach the highest level since 2005/06, which is 23.4 million tons. Because of good rainfall in the east and south.

The rains in August and early this month boosted the wheat crops in the eastern and southern parts of Australia. However, the wheat producing areas in Western Australia are still dry.

The Australian Crop Forecasting Company's 2010/11 forecast for wheat production is up nearly 8% from the previous year’s actual output of 21.7 million tons.

Profarmer Australia expects Australian wheat production to increase by 10% this year to about 24 million tons. The previous year's wheat production was 21.7 million tons.

The National Bank of Australia stated that Australia's wheat production may reach 22.4 million tons in 2010/11 (April to March).

The latest report released by the Rabobank Australia company stated that the forecast for Australian wheat production in 2010/11 (from April to March) remained unchanged at 22 million tons.
