Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation: arrangement of fruiting season

Variety selection

Variety selection is the first step in the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus, and it is also the key to determining the level of future benefits. Mushroom farmers should consider comprehensively the cultivation season, facilities conditions, market demand, etc., and choose the appropriate high-yield, disease-resistant Pleurotus ostreatus varieties. For the novice mushroom cultivation experts, it is best to go to the regular edible fungi research institute or scientific research unit to purchase the mother plant, and do not purchase it at a small trader without business license or scientific research strength to avoid being deceived.

Seasonal arrangements

The seed production and sowing time of Pleurotus ostreatus are different due to different climates and different suitable growth temperatures. The general low-temperature variety will be cultivated from late July to mid-August, and cultivated from mid-late August to mid-September; the medium-temperature variety will be cultivated from 11 to 12 months, and the cultivar will be cultivated from January to February of the following year. Varieties are produced from March to April and cultivated from April to May.

Sowing can be divided into autumn sowing, winter sowing and spring sowing. The sowing time for autumn sowing is generally from mid-August to early October. Before the planting in early August, because the average daily temperature is above 25°C, although the mushrooming is faster, it is susceptible to contamination by bacteria during the germination period. Therefore, the optimum sowing date for autumn sowing is from late August to late September. At this time, the daily average temperature has dropped to 20°C, which is unfavorable to the growth of the mixed bacteria. Generally, the mushroom can be produced in 35 to 40 days, and large quantities of commercial mushrooms can be produced. It is best to sow during this time. The sowing date for winter sowing is from late October to late November. Seeds sown in late October can be harvested after two months, and before and after the Spring Festival, they will enter the plentiful period; in late November, 80-90 days will be required for fruiting. The sowing date for spring sowing is in February. Although the temperature is relatively low and the germination is slow at this time, there are very few bacterial contaminations. In the middle and late April, the mushrooms can be cultivated. After March, it is not appropriate to sow.

It is advisable to make full use of facilities with certain thermal insulation properties such as waste greenhouses for the production of anti-season oyster mushrooms, which can increase planting efficiency. Usually, the original species is started at the end of June and beginning of July, and the mother species is inoculated into glass bottles. The original species can be obtained in about 25 days. The original species can be inoculated into small cultivation bags, and cultivars can be obtained in 22 days or so. The cultivars will then be cultivated. Inoculated into a large cultivation bag, germination period of about 25 days, from bud to harvest takes about 7 days. The cultivated cornice can produce 3 to 4 indica mushrooms, and the head mushroom can account for more than 45% of the total yield.
