Sweet potatoes with dark spots cannot feed pigs

Black-spotted diseased potatoes remain toxic even after being boiled, steamed, or roasted. Feeding these potatoes or their residues to pigs can easily lead to poisoning. Symptoms of potato poisoning in pigs typically appear 3 to 4 days after consumption, including elevated body temperature, loss of appetite, constipation, dry and black feces that are often round and contain mucus or blood. It is crucial to remove any diseased potatoes from pig feed to prevent such health issues. The amount of sweet potato suitable for feeding depends on the pig's weight, age, and sex. Overfeeding can cause pigs to eat less of other essential feeds, leading to an unbalanced diet and inadequate nutrition. This can slow down growth and development. Generally, piglets, sows, and boars should be fed smaller amounts. Pigs weighing over 60 kilograms, such as growing or finishing pigs, can be given more, but the daily amount per pig should not exceed 8 kilograms. It's important to monitor their intake to ensure they receive proper nutrition without overfeeding.
