Summer management of bee colonies

According to the regional climate and honey conditions, summer management can be divided into three situations.

Jiangsu and Zhejiang, and the major honey sources in the north

Summer is the production season of beekeeping. During the flowering period of major honey plants such as jujube, black peony, sesame, cotton, grass hibiscus, vitex, eucalyptus and other major beetle plants, beekeeping is not only timely replaced by queen bees, but also bees, spleen, honey, royal jelly, etc. It is also necessary to prevent heatstroke, prevent damage, prevent hunger and prevent pesticide poisoning.

Heatstroke prevention is to create a suitable environment for the swarm. Experience has shown that, at noon on a hot day, the temperature of the surface of the beehive is usually about 10°C higher than the temperature under sunlight. Therefore, the beehive should not be directly exposed to sunlight, and it is even better to avoid the sunshine in the west afternoon. Due to neglect of the shading work, it will cause the hive and nest spleen to fall, the eggs dry up, the larvae and the capped bees hurt, the death and the new bee winged and other horrors. The light also forced the workers to fan the heat. Because the feed was consumed too much, the stored honey in the nest was depleted in a short period of time, and the life span of the bees was also shortened. When hot and dry, the beehive can be placed on mud grass to avoid direct sunlight. The beehive should not be placed on the concrete floor or toward the foot of the southwest wall. The beehive should be shaded and straw and wheat straw should be laid on the lid. The beehive should be placed under the shade. There are conditions to take a shelter. At the same time, attention should be paid to the ventilation of the beehive. Open the lid window or stagger the lid and expand the nest door. When the ground temperature of the bock rises above 35°C, it can be fed with more water. If necessary, cover the 1/2-gauze sub cover with a wet towel, and spray water on the outside of the nest box to reduce the temperature inside the crate.

The main enemy of bees in the summer, such as wasps, worms, cockroaches, spiders, ants and cockroaches, etc. In the mountainous area, there are more wasps and wet areas are more common. Anti-waist can be placed on the protective grille. After the protective fence is placed, the wasps can not enter the grid and approach the nest door. They can't eat bees and they leave without a bee. Bees can freely enter and leave the hive through the protective grille, and long-term placement does not affect the normal life of the bees.

Protection grille production. Similar to the drone which was commonly used in the past, the frame consists of three pieces of wood on the top and the left and right sides. The frame is made of bamboo. The frame is fixed at the bottom of the frame by 7mm. Holes are drilled on both sides of the frame, with a 10 mm hole spacing, and 22 to 24 iron wires are worn, similar to a fence across the fence. When used, one side of the wire fence will face outward and be placed in front of the nest door.

For flood prevention, the beehive can be raised by 10 cm to 15 cm and often removed. For the prevention of nest worms, the bees and spleen in the hive must be commensurate with the wax and dead bees on the bottom plate of the hive.

The prevention of hunger occurs mainly in areas where there is no honey source, or when a honey source has been harvested. The second honey plant has not yet begun. Pay attention to supplementing the syrup and feeding pollen.

Anti-pesticidal poisoning cotton and other summer honey sources, in recent years due to the large number of pesticides used in agriculture disinfestation, bee collection and heavy casualties. The population of bees that used cotton and honey was weakened quickly, and some groups were destroyed. Many bee farms are now reluctant to put bees into the cotton area, which has severely affected cotton production and honey production, and is urgently needed to be solved.

In areas where there is no major source of honey but there is an auxiliary honey source in Jiangsu and Zhejiang

In order to maintain a strong group over the summer, we must pay attention to the rejuvenation of bee colonies. Food should be left in the box, replacement of spawning poor old queen bee; weak groups to be merged, or form a double king group. In addition, the method of adjusting the group potential by swapping the spleen with strong groups and new groups is to transfer the nested spleen of the newly-grouped eggs or the larval spleen (when there is a lack of nurturing capacity) to a strong group to nurture; , In the strong group has been out of the room 60% of the old cover cap spleen to supplement the new group, in order to give full play to the strong group of the nurturing power and the new team queen bee oviposition force, prompting the rapid and strong bee colony. This will improve the ability of the colony to regulate the temperature and humidity in the nest during the summer. At the same time, we must also do a good job in preventing and treating bee stings. According to the characteristics that the bee stings are concentrated in the drone's house at this time, each box is matched with the nest spleen of some male hives in one frame to two frames. After the male hive is capped, the entire drone hive is cleared.

In order to maintain the strong mass of bee colonies in the summer and increase the production of high-quality royal jelly, the temperature and humidity in each nest box should be promptly adjusted. This is a key measure. As outside air temperature keeps rising, a large number of workers will go out to collect water and fan to regulate the temperature and humidity inside the nest. There will be bees from the spleen. The queen bee will stop spawning and hatching and the new bee will climb out of the box. As a result of the death, the group's potential dropped drastically, royal jelly production decreased, and even the production of pulp was stopped. The life span of the worker bees was shortened, resulting in a fall in bee colonies. The solution to this problem is that when the temperature rises above 35°C, especially at noon when the sun is shining directly, and the bees in the box are significantly affected by the high temperature, the bee colony should be ventilated and shady. , And cover 1 to 2 pieces of sack cloth soaked in water. When the outside air temperature is between 33°C and 37°C, the sack cloth is soaked once or twice a day. The time is about 9:00 am and once every 3 pm. At higher temperatures, we soak three times a day, that is, at 1 o'clock noon. Of the three, it is best to have 20 minutes before inserting into the pulp box. Generally after 20 minutes of humidification, it can be clearly seen that a large number of worker bees rise up to the box and gather between the gap of the pulp frame and the yarn cover, actively take up the work of bleeding, and improve the acceptance rate of the larvae of the harvest box. Royal jelly increased production. At the same time, it also reduces the burden of the worker bees on large quantities of water, which is conducive to nurturing the larvae, prolonging the life span of the worker bees, and laying a solid foundation for the production of honey and breeding in the fall.

South of Jiangsu and Zhejiang

In July and August, there was a lack of honey and powder sources. The weather was hot and the enemies were serious. It was during the period of beekeeping difficulties. Turning to the seashore and mountains in summer. Requests to replace the new king, maintain a strong group, leave enough food, strengthen the water supply, pay attention to shade, prevent diseases, increase humidity, heat preservation, conditional cold bee can be stored.
