"Do one thing every day that scares you." – Eleanor Roosevelt

Hey there, October is finally here! The season of chills, thrills, and all things spooky. If you're anything like me, you've probably been fast-forwarding through those Halloween commercials. I'm so grateful for my DVR—it's a lifesaver when it comes to dodging those creepy ads. With October being the perfect time to embrace a bit more courage, I decided it was high time for me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

Recently, I’ve been putting on a brave front about our upcoming move. Did I mention we’re relocating this month? Exhibit A:

And while all this moving chaos is happening, I've also been working hard to expand this blog. It's time for it to grow beyond just me—beyond my limitations, my time constraints, and my self-imposed fears. This month, I'm reaching out to new sponsors and welcoming another voice to join me here. Yes, I'll still be here, sharing my thoughts, but I’m thrilled to introduce a fresh perspective to this space. This month, I’m choosing to focus on what excites me, even if it means venturing into uncharted territory.

So, this month—and every day—I'm challenging myself to do something that scares me. Friends, let’s be honest, we should all strive to do what we love, even if it means making mistakes and learning along the way. Let’s laugh, cry, and live boldly, even if it stings sometimes. Some days will go according to plan, others won't. There will be moments of heartbreak, but there will also be incredible lessons learned. And that’s okay. Let’s take risks, connect, and aim for greatness. Let’s be brave, together.

What have you been waiting to dive into? Take a leap this month and face your fears. It’s the perfect time to step outside your comfort zone.

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce a new voice to this blog—a wonderful soul who’s stepping up alongside me. Please welcome our newest weekly contributor and dear friend, Autumn Kinsey!

*******************************

By Contributor: Autumn Kinsey is a military wife who finds beauty and joy in the unexpected… and in lists. After living all over the country, she now resides near the Gulf Coast in Florida with her husband (when he’s home), their son Max, and in her free time, she creates delicious meals and manages budgets (earning her the title of "budgeting guru").

Life’s been a whirlwind around here lately.

My sweetheart of a Coast Guard husband has had his schedule thrown into disarray, which has made life unpredictable. As someone who thrives on routine and order, this change has been… challenging. Here’s how it’s affected me:

Routine // I adore being a stay-at-home mom, but routines help keep me grounded. I’ve been working on flexibility, but I’m not a natural at it—yet.

Budget // I’m a budget enthusiast. Call me a nerd, but I love tracking expenses. Unexpected shifts in my husband’s schedule throw off the budget, though. The miscellaneous column always takes a hit. One day, I’ll stop worrying about that line item. Maybe then I’ll feel free.

Meal Planning // I’m a stickler for meal planning, but when my husband’s away, our meals adjust accordingly. It’s frustrating to cook elaborate meals only to end up eating them solo for days on end. Our toddler isn’t exactly a foodie yet, so Kahlua pork burritos aren’t really his thing.

Fitness // This ties back to routine, but it deserves its own mention. Staying active is important to me, mentally and physically. When I miss workouts, I notice it immediately. This week, though, my momentum got derailed. At least I managed to play some tennis!

Social Plans // I try to plan extra activities when my husband’s out, just to keep sane and maintain social connections. Cancelling plans last-minute due to circumstances beyond my control is annoying, especially since I hate coming across as unreliable. Luckily, my friends are understanding and supportive.

These are just a few of my quirks and passions. They may seem odd, but they’re sincere. Joining FreshMommy is another exciting challenge, and I’m thrilled to bring my unique perspective to the table. I hope you enjoy getting to know me as much as I enjoy sharing my story.

Welcome to my world. I hope you find it as delightful as I do—or maybe slightly less so, so we don’t scare you off!

P.S. I’m also inspired by Tabitha’s fabulous style. Stay tuned for updates!

Frozen Squid Tentacles

Frozen squid tentacles are the arms or tentacles of a squid that have been frozen for preservation. Squid tentacles are commonly used in cooking and are popular in many cuisines around the world. They can be grilled, fried, sautéed, or used in soups and stews. Frozen squid tentacles are convenient to use as they can be stored in the freezer for an extended period and can be thawed and cooked as needed. They are also a good source of protein and low in fat, making them a healthy addition to any meal.
