Be Sweet, I’m a Beginner.
“Do one thing every day that scares you.†— Eleanor Roosevelt October has arrived, folks! The month of chills, thrills, and a whole lot of spookiness. Every time I catch a commercial, I find myself glancing away, but honestly, I'm grateful for my DVR these days. It saves me from all those eerie ads that just creep me out. With this month being all about embracing a bit more courage, I figured it was the perfect time to dive into some new ventures myself. Recently, I've been keeping up a brave front about this upcoming move. Spoiler alert: we're relocating this month. Exhibit A: Amidst all the chaos, I've also been pushing this blog to evolve. It's time for it to grow beyond my limits, my personal constraints, and my self-imposed doubts. This month, I'm welcoming new sponsors, expanding the blog by adding another voice to complement mine (I'll still be here, promise), and focusing on what truly excites me, regardless of outside opinions—good or bad. So this month, and every day, I’m choosing to do something that terrifies me. Let’s be honest, friends, life is too short not to chase our passions, even if it means making mistakes along the way. There will be laughter, tears, and moments of immense growth. Sometimes things will fall perfectly into place, while other times they won’t. That’s okay. What matters most is taking risks, connecting with others, and striving to create something meaningful. Let’s do something extraordinary together. What’s holding you back? Take a step this month and face your fears. October is the perfect time to embrace bravery. Let’s conquer our hesitations and support each other in the process. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a new voice on this blog—a remarkable person who’s stepping out of her comfort zone just like me. Please welcome our newest weekly contributor and dear friend, Autumn Kinsey. ******************************* The following post is by contributor:
Autumn Kinsey is a military spouse who finds joy in the small things—and in creating lists. After living across the country, she now resides near the Gulf Coast in Florida with her husband (when he’s around), their energetic son Max, and in her free time, she enjoys whipping up delicious meals and managing their household finances (she’s earned herself the title of “budgeting guruâ€). Things have been absolutely chaotic around here lately. My ever-charming Coast Guard husband has seen yet another shift in his already unpredictable work schedule, leaving me juggling a million balls at once. This has posed several challenges for my slightly Type-A, somewhat OCD personality: Routine // I adore being a stay-at-home mom, but routines keep me sane. I’m constantly working on flexibility, though I haven’t quite mastered it yet. Baby steps, right? Budget // I’m a budget enthusiast—yes, I admit it, I’m a total nerd about it. Unexpected changes to the schedule throw everything off, which frustrates me to no end. But hey, isn’t that what the “miscellaneous†category is for? One day, I’ll stop clinging to the hope of balancing that column every month. Maybe then I’ll feel liberated. Meal Planning // I pride myself on meal planning, but meals look drastically different when my husband’s away. It drives me nuts when I end up eating leftovers for three days straight because I didn’t want to waste a perfectly good meal. Our toddler doesn’t quite appreciate gourmet dishes like Kahlua pork burritos or balsamic-glazed chicken either. Fitness // While fitness ties into my routine, it deserves its own mention. I’ve been trying hard to stay healthy, but missing workouts leaves me feeling sluggish both physically and mentally. I usually plan my weekly routine on Sundays, but this week’s disruption threw me off. At least I managed to squeeze in some tennis! Plans // When my husband’s deployed, I try to keep busy with extra activities to stay sane and maintain social connections. However, it’s frustrating when last-minute cancellations occur due to circumstances beyond my control. Thankfully, my friends are understanding and supportive—they never hold it against me. I think. These are just a few of my quirks and passions. They might seem odd, but they’re genuine. I’m incredibly excited to join the FreshMommy team and add it to my ever-growing list of interests. It’s another challenge to embrace, but I know it’ll be incredible. Welcome to my world. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do—or perhaps just a touch less, so it doesn’t feel awkward. P.S. I’m also hoping to soak up some of Tabitha’s incredible style. Stay tuned for updates!
