The internal leakage in a hydraulic distributor is commonly caused by excessive wear of the spool valve. Since the spool valve is a precision component, repairing it can be both time-consuming and expensive. Fortunately, there's a cost-effective and long-term solution that can be implemented without major modifications.
In the case of the E512 combine harvester, the distributor is a bidirectional unit, but in practice, it's often used as a unidirectional system. At the rear of the distributor, there are two tubing connections—one for the cylinder and one that’s typically capped and unused. Usually, the upper connection is active, while the lower one remains idle.
When internal leakage occurs, one effective way to temporarily fix the issue is by swapping the oil lines and plug between the upper and lower connectors. If the bend of the oil line doesn’t match after switching, you can gently adjust it, but be careful not to apply too much force, as this could cause the pipe to come loose. Once the lines are swapped, make sure to operate the distributor handle in the opposite direction during use. This might feel a bit awkward at first, but it won't cause any other issues.
Important: Do not swap the tubing on the front side of the distributor (the lines connecting to the gear pump). Doing so could lead to serious problems such as a damaged gear pump, ruptured hoses, or complete failure of the hydraulic system. Always double-check the connections before making any changes. This method is simple, safe, and can save time and money in the long run.
