Powdery mildew is one of the most common and persistent diseases affecting rose leaves. To effectively manage this issue, it's essential to focus on a proactive approach that combines prevention with timely treatment for optimal results.
Preventive measures are crucial in reducing the risk of infection. Before the plant starts to sprout in early spring, applying a 600-fold solution of carbendazim wettable powder can help eliminate overwintering pathogens. Once the Chinese rose has been planted and its leaves have fully emerged, spraying a 1000-fold dilution of carbendazim every two weeks for three to four applications can reinforce protection. Alternatively, using a Bordeaux mixture at half the usual concentration after the leaves have spread can also be effective. Spraying once every two weeks for three to four times helps create a protective layer on the leaves, which prevents spores from taking hold.
Another effective preventive method involves using a 27% high-fat film emulsion. Mix 50 to 100 grams of the emulsion with 7 liters of water and spray both sides of the leaves. Repeat this every other week for two to three consecutive times. This creates a thin, breathable, and light-permeable film that blocks pathogen entry without interfering with the plant’s photosynthesis or respiration.
For greenhouse-grown roses, increasing ventilation and ensuring adequate sunlight exposure can significantly boost the plant’s natural resistance, thus reducing the chances of powdery mildew. Avoiding excessive nitrogen fertilizer and instead applying balanced phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can also help. Pruning and burning infected foliage in early spring is another important practice to prevent the spread of disease.
When the disease is already present, prompt treatment is necessary. One option is to use a 40% polysulfide suspension, mixing 15 to 20 grams per 7.5 to 10 liters of water. Spray the leaves every 7 to 10 days for two to three applications. This broad-spectrum fungicide works well against powdery mildew.
Fluconazole is another highly effective treatment. Apply it during the early stages of infection, repeating the application every 10 days. A 30% fluconazole solution diluted 800 to 1000 times is typically recommended. After application, it's important to wash hands, feet, and any exposed skin thoroughly. Also, avoid pouring leftover pesticide into rivers, paddy fields, or fish ponds to protect the environment and livestock. Fluconazole is often considered the preferred choice for treating powdery mildew.
Other options include using a 50% thiophanate-methyl solution diluted 1500 times, a 20% rust-free emulsifiable concentrate diluted 3000 times, or a 50% benzene-based wettable powder diluted 1000 times. These can be applied once a week for two to three consecutive treatments, offering good control over the disease.
By combining these preventive and curative strategies, gardeners can maintain healthy, vigorous rose plants and minimize the impact of powdery mildew.
Amino Acid Series
L-serine, as a basic amino acid of protein, is widely used in medicine, food, cosmetics and other industries. At present, the global market demand for L-serine is 10000t / A. L-serine is a non essential amino acid, which is an important precursor involved in the synthesis of intracellular biological substances such as purine, pyrimidine and phospholipid. L-serine is a raw material for compound amino acid infusion, and can also be used as a raw material for light chemical industry . In addition, L-serine is widely used in advanced cosmetics at home and abroad because of its special wettability and moisture retention
D-serine is one of the most important D-type amino acids in mammals, which is about 1 / 3 of the total free serine. It has been found that high concentration of D-serine exists in the higher center of higher animals, including human beings, and it plays an important role in neurotransmitter. It is found that D-serine plays an important role in the corpus cavernosum and lower esophageal sphincter of mice.
