Four more to ensure children’s health

Dr. Xu Xi, deputy director of Fudan University Children's Hospital, emphasizes that children’s diets should be light and balanced. Parents are advised to follow the "four less, one more" principle when seasoning their kids' food: less sugar, less salt, less soy sauce, less MSG, and more vinegar. It's important to avoid highly processed foods like salty snacks, canned goods, and pickled items, as they often contain excessive sodium. While ingredients like monosodium glutamate (MSG), soy sauce, and shrimp can add flavor and nutrients, they should still be consumed in moderation. Nutrition experts recommend that children aged 1 to 6 should not consume more than 2 grams of salt per day. For infants under 1 year old, it's best to limit salt intake to no more than 1 gram daily. After three months, babies can occasionally have a small amount of salt, but it's essential to avoid overdoing it. Children with conditions such as heart disease, kidney inflammation, or respiratory infections require strict control of their salt intake. To manage salt consumption effectively, the “salt-on-the-table” method is recommended. This approach allows individuals to add salt themselves during meals, helping to regulate how much they actually consume. By placing a salt shaker on the table instead of adding it during cooking, people can enjoy flavorful meals without over-salting. The salt added at the table mainly sticks to the surface of the food, which is where most of the taste comes from—so there's no need to use excessive amounts. This method not only helps reduce overall salt intake but also preserves essential nutrients like iodine, which can be lost during high-temperature cooking. Encouraging mindful eating habits from an early age can significantly contribute to long-term health and well-being.

Laparoscopic instruments are medical devices used in minimally invasive procedures. These instruments are designed to be inserted through small incisions in the body, allowing surgeons to operate with less pain, scarring, and recovery time than traditional open surgery.

Advantages of Laparoscopic Instruments:

1. Smaller incisions: Laparoscopic instruments allow the use of smaller incisions, reducing scarring, pain and recovery time.
2. Improved visualization: Laparoscopic instruments provide a better view of the surgical site, allowing for more precise and accurate surgical procedures.
3. Reduced risk of infection: Compared with traditional open surgery, laparoscopic surgery usually has a lower risk of infection.
4. Reduced blood loss: Laparoscopic instruments are designed to minimize tissue trauma, thereby reducing blood loss during surgery.
5. Faster recovery: Compared with traditional open surgery, laparoscopic surgery usually has a faster recovery time, allowing patients to return to normal activities sooner.
