(1) Soil Preparation for Loam Selection
Begin by selecting a high-quality loamy soil that is rich in organic matter. Before planting, apply 2,000 kg of well-decomposed organic fertilizer per acre to enhance soil fertility and structure. Create raised beds that are 1.5 meters wide to ensure proper drainage and root development.
(2) Cutting Propagation
Choose healthy and vigorous shoots from mature plants. Cut the branches to a length of about 20 cm, ensuring each cutting has 5–8 nodes. Remove the lower leaves to prevent rotting and reduce water loss. Insert the cuttings into a sand bed or a well-draining propagation medium. After 20–30 days, when roots have developed, the cuttings can be transplanted to the main field.
(3) Plant Spacing
Once the cuttings are ready for transplanting, arrange them in rows with a spacing of 30 cm by 30 cm. This allows adequate air circulation and light penetration, promoting healthy growth and reducing the risk of disease.
(4) Field Management
In addition to the base fertilizer applied during soil preparation, it is recommended to apply a top-dressing of urea every two weeks. Use approximately 7–10 kg of urea per acre. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the growing season, and ensure proper irrigation. Watering should be done in conjunction with fertilization to maximize nutrient uptake and promote strong plant growth.
(5) Harvesting
Harvest tender shoots regularly for consumption. The best time to harvest is usually every 15–20 days, depending on the growth rate. Carefully collect the new shoots, making sure not to damage the plant. This practice encourages continuous growth and ensures a steady supply of fresh produce throughout the growing season.
